Chris Smith founded SmithSolve in 2006 with the conviction that communications is an increasingly powerful – yet often overlooked – business tool. A hands-on professional with two decades of experience, Chris has led communications programs for some of the world's leading healthcare companies, including Alexion, AstraZeneca, Johnson & Johnson, Pfizer and Sanofi-Aventis.

Chris helps organizations decide what to say and do. He is known for developing at-a-glance strategy maps and message placemats that focus on the most essential and critical ideas.

Throughout his career, Chris has helped introduce new products, educate consumers, advance corporate reputation, build investor confidence, shape public policy and mobilize employees. Chris has supported dozens of products throughout their lifecycles and across geographies. He has expertise in a broad range of therapeutic areas, including cardiovascular disease, infectious disease, oncology, ophthalmology, pediatrics and rare disorders.

Before starting SmithSolve, Chris led corporate communications at Eyetech Pharmaceuticals. He also served as head of global commercial communications at Aventis and as director of the New York healthcare practice of Ketchum, a global public relations firm.

Chris graduated from Muhlenberg College. He lives in Denville, N.J. with his wife and three children. Chris is a founding member of Pharma Fliers, a group of cycling enthusiasts who work in the pharmaceutical industry.

Amanda joined the SmithSolve team as an editorial consultant in 2010 while pursuing an MBA at New York University's Stern School of Business. Prior to starting business school, Amanda served as a senior editorial supervisor at Edelman, the world's leading independent PR firm. As one of Edelman's only dedicated health writers, she lent her expertise to countless FDA approvals, data announcements, awareness campaigns, sponsorship events and regulatory/safety issues.

Amanda's many writing credits include a series of comedic, animated videos to engage a pharmaceutical sales force; a website to educate families about acid reflux; an op-ed on disaster preparedness in the hospital setting; and a keynote speech on opportunities for drug-development collaborations in Asia.

Amanda graduated from the University of Michigan with a bachelor's degree in English and remains a die-hard Wolverine.

Prior to joining the SmithSolve team, Emily held positions of increasing responsibility at Merck, where she played an integral part in the global launch of Merck's diabetes franchise, oversaw the development of a new corporate branding strategy and global communication plan, and developed editorial and multi-media content for the corporate website.

While working for the world's largest independent public relations agency, Emily created and led communication programs on behalf of numerous healthcare companies. Across her career, Emily has lent her expertise to broad range of topics including cardiovascular, diabetes, HIV/AIDS, oncology, insomnia, vaccines, corporate social responsibility programs and non-profit organizations.

Emily's experience working in both corporate and agency settings provides her with a unique understanding of how to work with organizations to put ideas into action with measurable results.

Emily graduated from Duke University with a bachelor's of science degree in psychology and was team captain of the women's varsity swim team in her Junior and Senior years. She is proud to be both a Blue Devil and a part of the Cameron Crazies.

Under Jean's leadership, NORD significantly expanded its membership programs to include restricted research grants, medical meetings for patients and caregivers, and mentors to guide organizational development. Jean also helped establish the NORD Corporate Council, which has grown to include 50 pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies.

Following her retirement from NORD, Jean started a consulting practice to apply her expertise in non-profit strategic planning, organizational governance, corporate relations and program management. She works with non-profit organizations of all sizes to increase their visibility, develop more effective programs, and better serve their members.

As part of the SmithSolve team, Jean provides valuable perspective and hands-on support for patient advocacy programs, with the goal of helping pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies establish productive relationships with patient organizations.

Jean received a Bachelor of Arts degree from CUNY Hunter College, along with fundraising, development and non-profit management certifications from Marymount College, Western Connecticut State University and Columbia University Business School's Institute for Non Profit Management (INM).
